Description
This rectangular butter dish has a matte dark blue glaze and a stylized floral and peacock feather motif, based on an Art Nouveau button design, on the knob. Holds one stick of butter and could also be used as a cheese cloche.
The intricate pattern on the butter dish was drawn and then hand carved. The butter dish was pressed with thrown parts and then finished and assembled when partially dry. After a bisque firing to 1900 degrees, glazes are applied with bulb syringes to different sections of the work, giving a cloisonné-like effect. All work is made of stoneware clay and fired to over 2100 degrees.
Size: 8″ long x 4.25″ wide x 3.5″ tall
The clay and glazes are lead-free and food safe. Microwave-safe. Handwashing recommended.
